Antoine Choueiri, 69, a prominent Lebanese businessman and media mogul passed away on Tuesday. He died of long-time illness.
Choueiri was rushed to the Hotel Dieu de France Hospital in the Beirut neighborhood of Achrafieh 20 days ago, the state-run National News Agency reported on Tuesday.
Choueiri was the advertising agent for several Arab media outlets including An-Nahar and As-Safir newspapers, LBC television, pan-Arab Al-Jazeera satellite news channel, London-based pan-Arab daily Al-Hayat, and Dubai Media Incorporated.
Choueiri was also known for his passion for basketball and headed La Sagesse Club during the 1990s, when the club won several local and international championships.
Choueiri is survived by his wife Rose, daughter Lina, son Pierre and their families.
Prayers for his soul will be at 11 am on Thursday, March 11, 2009 at the Saint George Maronite Church in downtown Beirut. He will be buried in the family cemetery in his northern home town of Bshari.
